Open House

March 19, 2013

Instead of having a reception we had an open house the night before our wedding.  Our theme was peacock colors which were blues, purples, and greens.  We had it in a church gym by Todd's house.  When you walked in there was a gift table, a place to put cards (which was a bird cage), and a guest book which was a 24X36 inch picture that had two peacocks and the guests signed their names in the peacock feathers.  We had 8 tables.  4 of them had fish as center pieces and the other 4 had vases with feathers in them.  We had a food table with cookies, hot chocolate, and cupcakes.  We also had a video slideshow of us playing with music playing in the background.  The open house was from 7-9 and we had a lot more guests than expected.  We got a lot of gifts, gift cards, and money.  We had lots of great help from both sides of the family, the Creps, Nina Jorgensen, and Bailey Mcdonald.  We can't thank you all enough for what you did.  It was very laid back and it turned out to be an amazing night!

The Proposal

Todd and I try to have date night every Friday night.  On Friday November 16, 2012 Todd wanted to reenact our first date (our first date we got Jamba Juice and saw "This Means War.")  Instead we had Sushi for dinner at Shoga. During dinner I kept bugging him about when he was going to propose (little did I know the ring was in his pocket.)  He finally said we will go to Salt Lake tomorrow and I can pick out my ring.  After dinner we saw "Wreck it Ralph."  We got out of the movie around 11:30 and drove home.  When we pulled up to the house TJ came flying out of the drive way.  He asked Todd if we would go pick up sodas from Days Market for him.  I was SUPER bugged because I wanted to go to bed.  Little did I know TJ was trying to stall us so he could pick Toy up from Timpview High School.  When we got to Days Market I stayed in the car and Todd got out to call TJ to ask him how many and what kind of sodas he wanted (but he was really asking him how long he needed to stall.)  We got the sodas and headed home.  As we walked inside Todd told me to leave the sodas on the stairs (which I thought was weird) and we walked to the basement.  From the stairs I could see rose petals and as I turned the corner the whole basement was covered with rose petals and candles.  At this point I was just thought Todd was being cute cause I still had it in my head we were getting the ring the next day.  He got down on his knee and said he loved me and I am the only one he wants to spend eternity with then asked "will you marry me?" :) I was so SHOCKED!!! I just starred at him for a second and then of course I said YES!  After I said yes my Mom, Dad, Graci, Toy, Tina, and TJ all ran out from the other room.  TJ sort of got it recorded and we all talked for a little while.  It was an amazing night.  Todd picked out the ring all by himself and it is beautiful!!  He did a great job! :)

How we meet- Todd's point of view.....

How we first met is more Todd's story so this is what he wrote....
"I had received tickets to attend general conference on April 1, 2012 morning session. I went with Kirk Robison, Daniel Cook, Russell and Lizzy Shawcroft, and Morgyn Broadhead (my date). During President Uchtdorf's talk "The Merciful Obtain Mercy" out of no where, in my line of sight, I saw this gorgeous young woman. In flashes I saw her as if she was right there in the room with me. I came to recognize that it was a girl I knew from high school named Shaleigh Hewlett. After I had recognized who it was I felt this overwhelming feeling to get in contact with her. The following Tuesday while I was in Ethics and Values class at UVU I sent her a message on Facebook letting her know if she needed anyone to talk to or hang out with I gave her my number and told her to call or text me sometime. I did so because at the time she had recently found out she was pregnant and was going through a tough time. On my way to my next class my phone went off and it was a text from her. With a huge grin on my face I continued to text her throughout the day and asked her out that night. She was busy with family but said she was free the following night. That night we grabbed some Jamba Juice and went to see This Means War. I had an amazing time!!  Two weeks later on April 20, 2012 we became official and by that time I knew I loved her and that she was the one I want to spend eternity with. I love her with all my heart and I want to give her everything she wants in this life and the next."
